The MRN accepts applications for spring turkey hunts | Outside

INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana Department of Natural Resources is accepting applications for spring turkey-only hunts from March 14 through March 14.

Hunters can apply online at by clicking “Apply for Reserved Hunt” and entering their Client ID. The online method is the only way to apply. Late registrations will not be accepted.

Applicants must possess a valid hunting license for the species they wish to hunt. A valid spring turkey license and game bird habitat stamp lien, full lifetime hunting license, full lifetime hunting and fishing license or combined hunting and trapping license for young residents are required to hunt or call wild turkeys in the spring. Non-hunting partners planning to call wild turkeys must have a valid permit.

The application process is consolidated on the online services website,, along with licensing, CheckIN Game, and HIP registration. You do not need to have an online account to apply, so there is no need to log in.

Even though there is no charge to apply, you still need to add the registration to cart, “Checkout” and “Checkout” to complete the application process.

Hunters will be selected by computerized draw. Draw results will be available within two weeks of the close of entries. You can view draw results at by clicking on the “View Hunt Draw Results” link.

You can also check if you’ve been drawn by logging on to, where you can see the full history of your past hunt records. An email will be sent to candidates when the results are available.

Access to private land

Indiana Private Lands Access offers limited turkey hunts on private property. The draws reserved for the turkey hunt will take place from April 27 to May 1 and from May 2 to 8. More information on the IPLA program at

Young hunters can apply for the IPLA draws from April 23-24. Youth Hunt applicants must be 17 years of age or younger to apply. Parents can enter the youth’s information into the system for them. Young hunters must be accompanied by a non-hunting adult who is at least 18 years old. There can only be one firearm or archery equipment in the field, and only the drawn hunter can harvest a turkey.

Big Oaks NWR is holding reserved draws April 27-29 and April 30-May 2.

Muscatatuck NWR is holding reserved draws April 27-28 and 29-30 and May 1-2. Muscatatuck NWR is also holding a youth draw on April 23-24.

For all reserved hunts, only one application is permitted per license holder. Hunters can only apply for one of the opportunities listed above. No changes can be made once the application has been submitted.
