A woman who spent over £3,000 getting her teeth done in Turkey has shared the stern warning she received from her dentist.

Jak Reid from Renfrewshire, Scotland, paid £3,500 for new White Crowns, accommodation and flights to the holiday destination, Birmingham Live reports.

The TikTok influencer then shared a clip on the social media platform, writing, “My dentist is reacting to my turkey teeth. God bless her she was very sweet.”

In the video, the dentist tells him, “I’m just going to say this, I know you’re not going to want to hear this. A lot of tissue has been removed here. The risk of having problems is very high”. .

“There’s not much else you can do except implants if something happens.”

Ms Reid added: “It was my lovely dentist giving advice, my teeth are fine. I knew the risks.”

She claimed some critics called her a “little girl” with no “brain” for doing the procedure, and others called her “stupid.”

Dental experts also commented on the post, with one saying: “You should have had venners [sic]. I’m a dental nurse, crowns are so bad.”

Another wrote: “I’m a dental nurse and what the dentist says is correct. Turkey teeth don’t last long term, as soon as there are problems people want them fixed by the NHS .”

And a third added: “I have been in dentistry for over 12 years and crowns/veneers abroad are the worst thing you can do. Hope you have no problems with yours.”

Ms Reid, who has over 70,000 followers on TikTok, said: “I’ve had veneers for 6-7 years. I have a five year warranty against failure and damage. If you take good care of them, they can last 15 to 25 years.

She added: “I already had root canals on my front teeth. I searched for places for two years.

“My teeth weren’t really healthy. I already had a root canal in my front teeth and I already had veneers, so I didn’t really damage healthy teeth. My teeth were already f*** **.”

The comments come after a London dentist warned that people who have their teeth shaved in the hope of getting the perfect smile are ‘ruining their teeth for the rest of their lives’.

Dr Manouchehri shared a viral video of another woman who said she had traveled to Turkey to have her teeth shaved for veneers – only to point out that she had not received veneers at all .

The dentist corrected her by stating that what she got instead were full coverage crowns, not veneers which are moldings bonded to the front surface of a tooth.

He explained: “If you’ve seen my previous video, you know that shaving your teeth down to your ankles like that is going to damage the nerve, and you’ll need root canal and extraction at some point. of your life.

“Second point; the veneers or the crowns will need to be replaced every 10 to 15 years in general. Now she is a magnificent young woman, I think she is what, around 18 or 19 years old maximum, and she will have to replace them probably four or five times in its lifetime, if not more.

“Not only is the financial burden going to be a problem, but also a biological burden because the tooth physically cannot be prepared and re-prepared every time.

“So she’s a beautiful young woman and she has damaged her teeth, maybe for the rest of her life and she will have dentures at the age of 40.”

More and more people are choosing to seek treatment abroad, with Turkey, Hungary and Croatia all popular with Brits.
